The centre plays a central role of responding to gender based challenges facing SUA and the nation at large through conducting gender focused research, encouraging and organising gender based debates and dialogues in order to improve the delivery of services that ensure gender equality and sustainability.

The centre through gender affiliate academic members of staff envisages doing the following activities: 

1.      Promoting dialogue and debate among students, staff and the general public on topical gender issues. The centre organizes seminars and conferences which are open for public participation.

2.      Conducting research in gender issues of national and international interests.

3.      Offering non-degree programmes (certificate and diploma) programs in gender studies.

4.      Offering short course tailor made training on gender-related issues that aims at improving the delivery of development programmes which are gender sensitive and sustainable.

5.      Establishing networks and linkages with stakeholders at national and international levels. 

6.      Facilitating both men and women to recognize and undertake their complementary roles in society through mass media, public lectures, seminars and workshops.

7.      Engage in outreach programmes and advocacy services in gender related issues through short courses, seminars, workshops and mass media.
